Programs

    KAB Beautification volunteers— Jerold Binkley, David Hedstrom, Bob Saathoff and Bill Stumpff all put in many, many hours improving and beautifying our community.

    KAB Friends of Ted Ensley Gardens—Volunteers assist with planting, weeding and dead heading at Shawnee County’s World Class Ted Ensley Gardens. The board meets once a month. If interested in serving, please contact KAB. The Fall Gala took place on September 7. Members and volunteers were invited to a wonderful reception with BBQ and wine.

    Master Gardeners–work approximately 707 hours per month educating and beautifying our community.

    Park Pride Days—Volunteers assist in a park each year. This year we eradicated honeysuckle in Dornwood Park on May 17.

    Topeka Audubon Society–cleaned up cedars from their area on March 14.

    Topeka Beautification Association–TBA installed a landscape at TARC at a value of $50,000 in November. The Garden Tour will be held June 18 and 19. The Landscape Contest judging will be June 25 and 26. Thanks to Skinners, Blackburns and Jacksons for providing the prizes for the contest. TBA and KAB will again partner to beautify Gage Park Snyder Cabin gardens.

    Topeka Cemetery Cleanup—Annual sprucing up of Kansas’ most historical cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day. This year our effort will be May 21.

    Tulip Time and Festival of Tulips at the Lake—Promoting our countywide celebration of tulips with Ted Ensley Gardens, Old Prairie Town, Doran Rock Garden and downtown Kansas Avenue being featured. Tulip Festival will be April 17 this year.
