The Mayor, City Manager, Deputy City Manager and City Council have shown strong support of our objectives in making Topeka a cleaner and more beautiful community. The City of Topeka has been a long term partner of Keep America Beautiful-Topeka/Shawnee County and has provided funding for many years to the local KAB affiliate.
Environmental programs that the City of Topeka has participated in include: Project Takeover/Makeover 2006, 2007 and 2008; the Kansas Lawn and Garden Show; waiving fees at the Yard Waste Disposal facility for Earth Day Free Days; and removing limbs from our Extreme Team cleanups.
The City Forestry Department, Housing and Neighborhood Development, Code Compliance, Public Communications, Public Works, Fire Department, Police Department, Street Department, Topeka Zoo and the Park Department are very strong partner departments from the city, just to name a few. Some of our long term executive board members and committee chairpersons are employees of the City of Topeka.
